Internation16 days of Action Opposing Violence Against Women
What is the 16 Days Campaign? The 16 Days of Action Opposing Violence Against Women runs from the 25th November (International Day against Violence against Women) to 10th December (International Human Rights Day). It is an international campaign that started in 1991 and now has over 2000 organizations from over 130 countries participating. In 1999 the United Nations officially recognized 25th November as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
What are the Aims of the Campaign? To highlight the prevalence of violence against women. To raise awareness of violence against women as a human rights issue at local, national and international level. To show the solidarity of women around the world organising to challenge violence against women. To work towards the elimination of all forms of violence
